Introduction

I am an American Chinese and Taiwanese educator who grew up in Monterey Park, California. My career began with teacher education at California State University, Los Angeles. After student teaching at Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), I taught creative writing in Pasadena, conducted literacy intervention with students from K-12, and administered a federally funded teacher professional development project in Los Angeles County.

As a freshly-minted Ph.D. from University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), my specialties include community based literacies, addressing equity through literacy education, ethnographic case studies, and qualitative interviewing.

While finishing my doctorate program, I discovered the importance of health and wellness. When I am not engaging in research and teaching, I take joy in trying healthy (plant-based) recipes, hot yoga, discovering foodie destinations, traveling, and outdoor excursions.
