In this post, I described three life hacks that not only restore my wellness, but also helped me save money in the long haul. These wellness hacks could be implemented at anytime during the year and could be implemented at any stage of life.
Strategy 1: Invest in a workout regimen.
Although gym memberships, small classes, or personal trainer could be perceived as extraneous expenses, the benefits of being healthy outweigh the upfront expenses.

When I bought my monthly hot yoga pass and registered for classes every week, I knew I had my me-time lined up. I stepped away from my computer, drove up to the studio, greeted my fully vaccinated classmates, then focused on my movement and my breath work. Although I have not worked extensively with a personal trainer, I have friends and family who benefited from personal training since trainers could actually coach proper form. Proper form is essential for preventing physical injury. The essence of this hack is to find a workout regimen that is affordable and sustainable long term. Health is wealth.
Strategy 2: Make healthy food at home.
I find meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking at home so therapeutic. I love pushing the cart at the grocery store and exploring all the new items. My favorite aisle is in the produce section and my favorite items are the leafy greens for my salad mixes. In autumn, I also enjoy strolling through the farmer’s market and picking out fresh locally sourced, root vegetables.

When I prepare food at home, I could monitor my ingredients more closely. Most of my meals are simple with few ingredients, but the whole foods I consume nurture my body. I also noticed my food bills decreased by at least 50% when I reduced my take-out orders and ate in.
Eating healthy at home does not have to be lonely or boring. My joy is being at my seasonal home in Redmond, bringing out the wine and cheese for the significant other, and preparing dinner during movie night.
Strategy 3: Do-it-yourself/home improvement projects
Home improvement projects such as decorating, rearranging the furniture or installing artwork turns an empty shell of an apartment into a home. When I personalized my living space, I feel more settled and my mind is at ease.

As I design my projects, my creative juices are flowing and I find purpose in the moment. Not only do I learn a new skill, I experience a sense of accomplishment, and save money on manual labor.
These three tips enabled me appreciate the small things often taken for granted in life. When I engage in any of these life hacks, I am gaining new skill sets, investing in my future, and cutting expenses at every turn.
